LES PETITS CHANTEURS DE LAVAL

Founded in 1981, the organization Les Petits Chanteurs de Laval is made up of three choirs (Les Petits Chanteurs de Laval, Les Voix Boréales and Le Choeur des Jeunes de Laval) which represents the largest choral organization in Quebec with more than 350 young boys. and girls between the ages of 8 and 28.

 

Under the musical and artistic direction of Philippe Ostiguy, the choristers have collaborated with some of the greatest artists such as Céline Dion, The Tenors, Marie-Mai, André Gagnon, Cœur de pirate, Richard Séguin, Ariane Moffatt, Louis-Jean Cormier, Marie-Denise Pelletier, the Opéra de Montréal, Cavalia, Cirque du Soleil, the Video Games Orchestra, the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal and the Orchestre symphonique de Laval.

 

Their reputation goes far beyond the borders of Quebec following numerous tours in Canada, the United States, Europe and Asia. The choristers are also very present on the Quebec scene thanks to their frequent participation in various television events, their presence at several major National Day shows in Laval and Quebec City and their involvement with several charities.

 

In the spring of 2017, the choristers of Les Petits Chanteurs de Laval recorded, with 18 other laureate choirs chosen from across Canada, the album Chœurs d'ici, chansons d'ici produced by Radio-Canada to mark the 150th anniversary of Confederation. Canadian. In August 2017, several choristers had the privilege of participating in the grand open-air concert Montréal Symphonique, a key event of the festivities for Montréal's 375th anniversary bringing together the city's three largest orchestras – the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal, the Orchestre Métropolitain, the McGill Symphony Orchestra – and 20 renowned artists including Rufus and Martha Wainwright, Pierre Lapointe, Diane Dufresne, Daniel Bélanger, Patrick Watson and DJ Champion.

 

Several young choristers took part in the Quebec adaptation of the musical show Les Choristes, directed by Serge Denoncourt and presented in the summer and during the 2018 holiday season.

 

The three choirs had the chance to sing Canada's national anthem during the Montreal Canadiens' hockey season opener at the Bell Center in October 2019.

Each season, the PCLs participate in 4 concerts produced by the organization.

REHEARSALS

Regular rehearsal sessions take place in premises set up in the Pavillon d'Argenteuil of the Centre de création artistique de Laval on Thursday evenings (7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.) and Saturday mornings (9 a.m. to noon).

However, the schedule is reduced during the first year of participation (Preparatory Choir) : weekday rehearsal ends at 8 p.m. and Saturday morning rehearsal ends at 11 a.m., with some exceptions.
